About this deal

Aimed at the independent-minded, it addresses the concerns of young designers who want to earn a living by doing expressive and meaningful work and avoid becoming a hired drone working on soulless projects. It also discusses the benefits/downsides of getting a job in a studio, in-house, as a freelancer, or setting up your own studio. It was difficult to distinguish whether the problem lay in design, or designing for THAT particular company. It covered a lot of the less glamorous areas of becoming a designer: things like actually getting a job and dealing with difficult clients. Any graphic design students, interns, employees, art directors, businessmen or creative artists can look for this book.

This revised, extended edition includes all-new chapters covering professional skills, the creative process, and global trends, including green issues, ethics and the rise of digital culture. Can't say much more about it due to the fact that I haven't read it, however, listening to graphic designers perspective it is a good deal! You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. it is full how grate ideas and ways of thinking and apart from the small out side margin (witch i wish was 5 mill bigger) is beautifully presented. Some of the advices were also outdated, but you can still get the valuable learning from it and adapt it to modern technology or practice today.

And this is a book that i am glad i put the effort in and read the first page because by the end of every page i wanted to read the next one and for me that is the sign of a well written book.

Also included are interviews with leading designers: Jonathan Barnbrook, Sara De Bondt, Stephen Doyle, Ben Drury, Paul Sahre, Dmitri Siegel, Sophie Thomas and Magnus Voll Mathiassen. This books gives great insight on the structure of the graphic design world from the perspective of successful working designers.
